…..into thinking we were going along to strim some long grass and mow a lawn. As it turned out, neither were true!

Simon, Becky and I took part in a Mission to help clear Ms G’s garden this week. I have been visiting Ms G on my coach runs since last Christmas and thought it would be helpful if the garden could be cleared, not least so Ms G’s little dog had a bigger area to run around in.

We met up at the location and had a quick (socially-distanced) chat with Ms G and introduced ourselves to her Yorkshire terrier – him and Becky got on well! Ms G expressed how grateful she was for the GoodGym help as she knew her little dog, Mac, would love the clear garden.

We thought there was a lawn buried in the long grass somewhere, but turned out to be a paved area. No mower needed! Once we started to investigate further, the grass also just needed pulling out from between the slabs, not strimming. We soon got to work filling up the dumpy bag that Simon had brought along, trying to avoid the crunch of snails underfoot as we went. We found some oddities too; a toy car and a minion toy – wonder if these had been “lost” in the undergrowth by Mac?

After a lemonade and Club biscuit stop, we finished off the bulk of the clearing, agreeing this was Stage 1 - and Stage 2 was definitely needed to finish off the task. It was good to clear the slabs and let the area dry out first. I showed Ms G some photos of the cleared garden and needless to say she was very thankful.
