Jonathan, Lucy and Sam were on a mission to help out Mr H. Unfortunately his wife passed a few years ago, and his back garden had been a little neglected since then, as the garden was always her passion. We were met by a smiling Mr H who led us to his garden, and told us to do our magic and get on with the task at hand. Provided with an ample array of hoes, spades and a tool that Jonathan took a shine to for getting into the cracks and crevices on the path, we got into action.

Lucy mowed her first ever lawn (once she had worked out how to turn the lawnmower on), and the boys got stuck into weeding the patio path, getting up tufts of greenery that were popping up in places it shouldn’t be. Then it was onto the beds around the edge of the garden, which were full of weeds and all sorts of debris that had found their way in following the recent storms, and tidying up the fallen flowerpots and knocked down bamboo.

Six bags of weeds and grass and twigs later, the garden was looking in a much better state. There was still work to do, but we had made a great start. We really brightened up Mr H’s day and he was very happy with our efforts and can’t wait to see it restored to its former glory, to enjoy once the warmer days are back!
