We've got it in the...bag, but now we have to leave...

3 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Hackney.

Ms. J has a large garden that needed leaves picked up from, so the dream team of Andreana, Andy and Mridula (me) were dispatched to the house to do so. This was my first mission, and I was privileged enough to complete it with bona fide royalty in the good gym world. Between them Andy and Andreana have completed nearly 300 missions. As someone who's very enthusiastic, but has only completed 9 missions, it was a great opportunity to fan-girl.

We Returned the Caterpillar to Fresher Leaves

After accidentally knocking on the wrong door, I rapidly shuffled off down the road where I spotted the smiley faces and red t shirt of Andreana. Andreana is Miss J's coach runner, so knew her way around the garden and we were off to quick start in no time.

The task was simple enough, pick up leaves, but there were many of them scattered around the yard. We immediately went to work, but this put us in a pensive mood, given that it may have slightly futile task, given the wind was blowing leaves from the garden next door into Ms. J's lawn. However, we attacked the leaves with gusto, and underneath we discovered the new bulbs coming up, which means the end of winter and start of spring. We also found a cute caterpillar which we returned to under the some fresher leaves and proceeded to have a deep and meaningful whilst we worked.

We had very good chat and burned through a variety of topics; Andy and his houseboat, Andreana and her future cool ambition, training running, addiction and sobriety management through exercise, mental health issues in the country today and the fact that goodgym is the best place to make new friends! It also gave me an opportunity to take some sneaky selfies, so I can show my goodgym buddies at Lewisham and Greenwich that I got to meet the Rockstars of the goodgym world.

WD40

In no time the task was complete and we had one very stuffed brown bin and two bags that were waiting collection from the council. We knocked on Miss J's door, to see if there was anything else we could do. She wanted us to lubricate some of her shed locks which involved WD40. Andy jumped to this task with the same level of excitement, as I had last week when I was told I could walk a dog as part of my goodgym that day. Andreana and I were baffled by the joy this bought him, but apparently this was a man/Andy thing which we wouldn't understand.

Our Collective Mutual Love of Dogs

After a quick chat about our collective mutual love of dogs, we bid adieu to Ms J and started to make our way home, feeling happy for doing some good for someone on the last Sunday of the month. Think this might have been the best first good gym mission ever (imo) and I look forward to doing so many more.
