Nice to catch up with Richard on this mission – our previous one was towards the beginning of lockdown and had seen us needing to dismantle and reassemble a bedframe, made possible by the fortuitous presence of a fairly basic bike multitool that lurks in the bottom of my pannier bag. Today it made a reappearance as we met to lend Ms S a hand getting her flat in order after suffering simultaneously from fractures to both wrists and a bed bug infestation. Pretty bad luck! The main task was to help with her bed so she could start using it again after the bed bug treatment and it was fairly straightforward to get it turned over to allow it to be hoovered and back in place.

Were either of us any good at DIY and would we mind having a quick look at a kitchen chair that a screw had fallen out of, Ms S asked once we were finished. Hard to say no to such a simple request and after establishing that Ms S didn’t have quite the right tools, turned out that once again the bike multitool did have the right size Allen key to solve the problem. We were delighted to be able to help and I was also happy not to have to think of a new pun for the report.
