It's been a cold and dark few months, and it might have felt as if it were never going to happen, but last night we started our run in the light and all was well with the world.

There was so much good cheer last night, and for some excellent reasons. We welcomed the lovely Victoria for her first run with us (hurrah!), and tipped our hats to Will for covering an impressive 280k this month, to Remy for topping the good deeds table, and to Natasha and Jo for cheering and cheers respectively. What a team.

There's a GoodGym social next Thursday, which is a perfect chance to catch up with chums for all the GG areas, find out who won the much-coveted pun of the month, and hear about all the lovely stuff everybody's been doing.

Don't forget to mark your diaries for June 30th, for it will be the inaugural entry for TEAM HOUNSLOW. We got this, guys. Parliament Hill Athletics track will see all the areas go head to head in a battle of guile, sporting prowess, cunning, skill, and egg and spoon racing. We'll need to come up with a pretty flag, too. Sign up here for an afternoon you will never forget.

Curry up!

After some very silly warming up, we just had time for a quick discussion about the best advice we'd ever been given before heading off to our task. There were some words to live by, including back yourself, don't worry about what other people think of you, happy wife happy life, stand your round, and to always break for cake. Wise words indeed.

Our job tonight was at the lovely Waterman's, an independent charity and a social enterprise which means that any money they make is ploughed back into providing events and opportunities for the whole community. Their mission is to bring communities together through cultural participation.

After a nice run down there punctuated with some squat sessions, we arrived to find a box of tools waiting for us and a very overgrown terrace that needed some love. However, the biggest challenge was resisting the delicious smells of curry coming from the café. Curry social soon!

While most of the team got stuck into the weeding, Adam and Will tackled the overgrown bushes in the carpark, and half an hour later both areas were looking nice and tidy. Great work everybody. With Waterman's park right next door, we headed over for our fitness session, via the swings.

Second to Naan

This week's session started with a group exercise where we took in turns to choose the drill. Luis had us doing press ups, Jeremy threw some squats at us, and Andy made us superman, and before long we had really woken up those muscles. Up next was a rep challenge to see which team could complete the highest number of a series of excercises in the given time. Step forward Will and Jeremy, and receive your applause, with a massive 180 reps. Impressive stuff.

All that was left was a run back to our starting point, a few stretches, and a chat about next week's task, when we'll be getting arty with a painting job. Great running everyone, bring on next week!
