We fought the lawn and the lawn won

Ms J's husband died late last year. She is very old and unable to care for it herself. Her son lives with her but is also not well enough so Sarah and Senay turned up at Ms J's place near Lordship Rec to help out. Ms J's son let us in, saying "I thought you'd be a couple of chaps, so I made sure I had some beer in the fridge!" We assured him that while beers were not necessary, we are partial to a cool brewed beverage too.

Senay set about mowing the lawn and Sarah raked leaves and did her best to tidy the edges. A pair of shears were no match for the long grass unfortunately! Ms J's son has lived in the area all his life so he kept us entertained with his wealth of local knowledge.

With two bags full of garden waste and only a tiny piece of lawn left to mow, the electric mower ran straight over the cable! So perhaps we can call it a draw: the lawn is tidy but the lawn mower is in need of some medical attention. Ms J's son says he can fix the cable, or he might get a petrol mower again.

Job done, the pair were able to join the rest of the GoodGym Haringey team for dinner.
