On a very cold morning four runners joined together to hand out Christmas trees for King's. Every King’s Christmas tree helps rough sleepers and vulnerable people through the work of the Jericho Road Project. The tree helps put hot food on the tables at The Feast, a weekly drop-in meeting. Last year they served 4500 three-course meals.

With 30 trees to be collected - 4ft to 8ft, we were ready to start helping the customers to pick and load the trees into their cars. The group helped assess the trees, unwrapping some to see how bushy they really were and if they would fit in the houses of their new owners.

Busy to work and glad to get moving in the frosty morning we moved trees around and helped to rewrap them using the netting machine. The group decided against trying it out on ourselves.

In the quiet times we kept ourselves warm with a chat on Christmas plans and having a cup of tea. Once the final few trees had been manoeuvred into their owners car, which involved a lot of lifting and shifting and the drivers removing all passenger seating for some! Glad to have helped with some festive fun the group dispersed once all the trees had been collected.
