Water under the bridge

It wasn't just water under the bridge last night, it was water over it, around it and just about everywhere else when the big rainstorm began before our group run and then...the hailstones kicked in!

Luckily our resident meteorologist (thanks Tish) let us know that it was going to definitely stop just in time for our task, which it absolutely did!

So with slightly squelchy trainers we did our warm up and headed off to the task at Kew Bridge. Along the way we bumped into Watson taking Remy for a run, and then arrived at our location to find lots more GGers waiting for us and ready to give the litter its marching orders.

We were meant to be meeting another one of the riverside organisations but unfortunately they couldn't make it - luckily somebody from Active 360 was there to let us in for litter pickers and bags.

The high tide did make it a bit of a challenge but there was still lots to collect, and although it might not look like we ended up with loads, its the micro plastics and cig butts we did collect which are a huge pollutant for our waterways.

We gave the public walkway a once over, getting rid of the weeds and making it a place of which local people can be proud. Hopefully this means they're less likely to drop litter and take more ownership of the area.

After a run back to base we did a leg blast with two choices of intensity options, followed by a brief upper body workout. A passerby remarked seeing me with the timer that I had the easy job, and I quite agree - well done on all the effort everybody!
