Report written by David Chatterjee
Hello and welcome to this very fine run report. Hopefully Doug will agree I have a future in report writing.
We started off by welcoming back Joe from an almost 18 month hiatus! A lot has changed, a litany of new runners and he has even got married! After we waited to see if Jeremy Hunt would show up, we went outside for a photo opportunity and headcount.
We ran down to the park, waving to the snoozing swans, and got to the legendary wobbly lamppost. The flowerbed had been overcome by some very early autumnal leaves and we wanted to clear them up! I had unfortunately only packed three large gardening bags which we soon filled. It was a good job the wasp's nest I planted just in case soon livened things up with their attacks on James (we are pretending they are bees for the purposes of the pun...). After dropping the bags off by the bins, we got into the real reason we all came along; an overly complex method of running explained by a dashingly handsome run leader. I blame Google Maps for the route being around 100m short, so it was less than a mile. Everyone finished at a fairly similar time so I think it worked quite well! Thoughts?
After the intensity of the 1500m, we ran back to base at a more leisurely pace. Great work on the leaves and running everyone, hope to see you all again soon! And hope that the myriad of GoodGymers who have birthdays this week enjoy(ed) them all!
And if you'd like to know how I worked out everyone's time and worked out the handicap - you'll have to come to the Beer Festival next week! I'll be going after GoodGym so stuff your bumbags with a tenner or two and come on down!
