These branches are hacking me off!

Good Morning goodgymmers! Two slightly confused goodgymmer's (Nina and Mridula (me)) went over to Ms K's to help her sort out her garden. As I cycled and Nina drove to Ms. K's house, we could be forgiven for thinking we were in the Cotswold's, as all the houses in the area were based around it. We rocked up to a lovely house wondering what on earth we were going to do as it all looked perfect.

We knocked on her door, and were greeted by the smiling Ms. K. She took us around back and showed us her beautiful garden. She had two goodgymmers come and see her before to mow her lawn which still looked beautiful, but she needed some chopping back of trees in her back yard to let some light in.

It was super cool to see Nina, the lady who has set up and done the marvellous job of setting up and coordinating the missions. She does so much and with the recent shindig, you can already see some of the amazing improvements that have been taken on board (being alerted when someone you support is doing a mission near you, just to name one!).

We started by cutting off branches, with Nina handling the high trees and me handling the lower branches which made sense given our height differential. Nina seemed to have some rage issues towards trees. I suspect a tree stole her lunch money when she was a child given the sheer aggression with which she chopped at the tree. She also got hit once or twice on the head by a branch and whilst this would slow most people down, it just seemed to spur her on. Nina, we can go to a park sometime and you can see that not all trees are bad beings. We can do some sort of ceremony so you can make peace.

We also talked primarily about our favourite type of weed, and she got me very excited about winter missions, because you get to put up Christmas decorations for some people! I'll be honest, I'm not the world's best gardener and relish the opportunity to do something else! Also, I've never decorated a Christmas tree in my life!

Ms. K came out to chat with us, and told us about her life story (15 great grandkids and counting!). She told us how lonely she sometimes felt, and was so grateful to have a chat and company for the afternoon. We were also supervised by her lovely cat Mr. G who gave us judgemental stares, but was ultimately grateful, because he got a better view when he wanted to play/attack his arch nemesis, the white cat from next door. The two hours we spent at her's just flew by and we packed up and left! Not before she offered us some biscuits. Nina and I pretended to not want any and then proceeded to scoff about half of them!!

A lovely and productive afternoon!! Thanks Ms K for letting us into your wonderful home! till next time folks.
