"There's mow way you'll get it all done today"

2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in York.

Ms L has lived in her house for over 30 years and has always struggled to maintain her huge back garden, but over the last few years, it really has started to get the better of her. Half overgrown, weed-filled lawn, and half forest of nettles, it was an awesome challenge for York GoodGymmers Sean and Leanne to get their teeth into...

"I don't know about two of you - you'll need 20 people to get all that sorted" (Ms L)

Once we worked out how to get the lawnmower going (it took a while), Leanne set to work ploughing through the lawn of weeds while Sean bravely explored the forest of nettles. It wasn't long before we decided that the most effective use of our time would be to concentrate on the lawn, leaving the nettles for another day. Nothing to do with our uncovered arms and legs of course!

After an hour and a half, the lawn had been mowed twice (because once just wasn't enough against grass that long), grass cuttings were piled into Ms L's now overflowing green waste bin and we stood back to admire our work.

Ms L was incredibly grateful, and told us that we'd made a huge difference. We bid farewell, leaving her with a smile on her face.
