Even after quite a number of plogging / litter picking sessions, it sometimes still amazes me what kind of things people seemingly chuck away at random into the lap of Mother Nature...

The odd xmas tree ending up in a section of woodland is perhaps nothing too serious, but how did an empty, pretty new looking compost bin (no lid!) end up behind trees? Wrapping previously containing a pillow might have blown in during the stormy weather lately, but who dropped CORONA in there? Luckily it was merely a beer bottle and not the more serious C word! ;-) Those roof panels however.... Ofcourse no litter pick is complete without the obligatory condom wrapper!

Two bins filled in about an hour and a survey of the rest of the rubbish that needs clearing made for a good pairing with a browse round on how to improve the area.

Some ideas for future woodland projects, open to comments/advice:

  • guide ivy to cover the old rusty looking fence - might also help stop things blowing in.

  • thin out the little trees to promote the stronger ones - healthier canopy

  • use thinned trees & storm damaged branches to make wild fence along path - opportunities for varying wildlife.

  • any ideas for some large tractor tyres?

Till the next round!
