We arrived at the front door of the property and Samia had a sudden case of dejavu remembering that she had visited this property earlier in the summer! (When you’ve done over 120 deeds it’s very tough to keep track!)

We were greeted by Mrs D who was in the process of packing up her home of 60 years for a move closer to family on the south coast. Our mission this evening was to help clear out a wardrobe in her Son’s old bedroom and sort into 3 piles; items to take with her, stuff for charity and stuff for the bin.

With Mrs D nestled between us we formed a very productive factory line with Nicky unearthing items from the wardrobe, Mrs D deciding their fate and Samia allocating it to the right bag pile.

We dived in under the watchful eye of a Samia sized teddy bear 🐻 who was laying on top of the wardrobe. Mrs D was ready for action and was very quick and decisive in confirming the fate of each item. As the wardrobe emptied the bag pile quickly grew. Coats were safe and taken for packing, bedding and curtains were straight to charity, wool was saved for future knitting and stitching projects!

The hanging rail cleared, we tackled the wardrobe drawers and came across an interesting selection of reading materials that no mother should find!? 😉 Mrs D was quick to assign them to the charity pile!

We finally turned our attention to the bags on the bed which included the highlights of 5 odd shoes, an Italia 90 annual and a bag of pot plants still filled with soil!

Unfortunately we didn’t get to complete the full sort out of a chest of drawers so a follow up mission is needed to help Mrs D prepare for her next chapter and new home.

As we left Samia commented that it was great to see the difference in Mrs D since her summer visit and clearly the planned move will give her a new community and support network to look forward to.

Extra kudos for the best emoji! Brilliant report and lovely to have seen her doing so much better. If only we could go back to those heatwave days though... those books 🤦‍♀️😂
