11 ran to Broomfield allotments to help out with overgrown plots

Another warm evening and 11 of us ran the slightly longer than normal route to Broomfield allotments where we were greeted by Tim and an opening joke.

He explained that there were two plots that needed some work, one of which was being prepared for a new owner and the other belonged to a chap who was recovering from cancer treatment and so had not been able to do much work on it recently. We hope this will give him a much needed boost on his return to the allotments.

We split into two groups and worked away on both plots, around the fruit trees on the first one and clearing everything on the other. despite some enthusiastic use of tools, health and safety was given due consideration at all times.

Plot two, initially thick with weeds and grass was suitably thinned and the smaller plot was also relieved of the weeds covering almost every inch of available space!

On the way back we added exercises at various intervals, much to the delight of the team, and all get stuck in adding to the fatigue from all the digging and weeding by completing pressups, planks, wall sits and crunches.

Tonight we are meeting for the social, all details on the facebook page!
