Luis and I met in Kingston for our first Community Mission together. We were ready and primed to do some heavy lifting up and down stairs as the Kings Gate lift was broken....oh no it isn't!! On arrival we were informed that the lift had indeed been fixed and therefore there was no leg workout today, instead we needed to get our arms in the action and were asked to cut up some vegetables.

Willing to help in anyway we could we collected peppers and courgettes ready to be sliced for the weekly meal prep. Voices of Hope cook around 1,000 meals a week for residents in the Kingston and Richmond Borough who are unable to cook for themselves. In addition to this they also deliver fresh food to families who wish to learn how to cook.

With boxes and boxes of peppers and courgettes Luis and I rolled up our sleeves and got to work. As we sliced we chatted about culinary delights - our favourite things to cook, what we struggle to cook (that was me!) and different cultural cuisines; before we knew it we had sliced through four boxes of vegetables!

After all that talk of food we were pretty hungry so we parted ways and headed home for lunch.
