On a hot hot hot night, 8 hawwwwt Goodgymmers braved the heat to help the Westbury Banks Nature Reserve.

Congratulations And Celebrations

Everybody make some noise for bona fide rock star Cathy who has breezed past the 200 deeds mark. We're not worthy!

Also a very happy birthday to Luke from the Westbury Banks Nature Reserve who is on a mission to put the Green back into Wood Green and we stan.

It's a jungle out there no more

On a night where London was cosplaying as a rainforest, it was perhaps quite fitting that we found ourselves trailblazing through trees, ivy, and loads of prickly things as we finished clearing all the pathways and tree avenues at the Reserve.

Our team of litter pickers also managed to fill up three whole bags of rubbish, including loads of apples and pears that were starting to ferment on the ground.

It was ever so hot so halfway through we took a little break and celebrated Cathy's landmark with ice lollies that had in no way melted. Not at all.

After just over an hour's work, GGH can certify that the Reserve is no longer a lockdown untamed jungle and all walkways are clear! The Reserve is ready for public workshops to start again. Happy days.

We even found time to put the band together one last time and recorded some very touching birthday songs for Luke. It was beautiful. So beautiful.

Help locals create a nature reserve

"The Westbury Banks Nature Reserve is a community lead project to transform derelict land into a nature reserve. All work on the site is on a voluntary basis and the management of the site is done free of charge! There are big plans to install a storage unit for the equipment, a mural, a log path with wood chipping, a pond for amphibious for wildlife and a grand insect hotel

Yes, GG Haringey has a choir. We can reach high and low notes, sing in tune and even offer a rainforest rhapsody in the reserve. Happy birthday Luke. Congratulations Cathy.
