Sweet 16...the pint of no return! 🥛

1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Kingston upon Thames.

On a beautiful Friday evening I set off to help Mr & Mrs D's with their shopping. En route I had called them to let them know I was running a touch late, due to the slightly scenic route I had taken...turns out Google maps doesn't know all the paths that are closed due to COVID-19!

Finally, 12km later (rather than the 9km planned!) I arrived on Mr and Mrs D's doorstep and rang their doorbell. Mrs D answered and warmly greeted me. She handed me a handful of shopping bags and the money for all the items. Before I set off I double-checked the list I had written down with the list Mrs D had in her hand...they matched perfectly!

Mrs D asked if I could get the items from Waitrose, as both Mr & Mrs D loved Waitrose's own brand of English Breakfast tea. Mrs D gave me some directions to Waitrose which ended with "it's right by clock tower"...I politely nodded and set off on my way, despite not being 100% sure where I was heading as I this was a totally unfamiliar area to me!

Did I trust Google maps to guide me this time?! I took the chance and ran towards the pin, it was a lovely downhill run that did indeed lead me to the Waitrose, with the clock tower that Mrs D had mentioned right next to it.

This was going to be a heavy shop, 16 pints of milk - 8 red and 8 blue, 8 bananas, 1 bottle of disinfectant, 100 bags of Waitrose's English Breakfast tea and 1 large brown farmhouse loaf. I decided to gather the lighter items first and then end with the milk. I got lucky with the tea bags as there were only two boxes of 50 bags Waitrose's English Breakfast tea left on the shelf! Mr & Mrs can't be the only ones who love Waitrose's own brand of English Breakfast tea!

I paid and packed up all the items into three equally weighted bags and began my walk back to Mr & Mrs D. As I walked up the hill I remembered my lovely run down and now wished it had been the other way round! Three heavy bags and two heavy legs after my 12km run made the hill a bit of a challenge, but it wasn't long before I was up it and back on Mr & Mrs D's doorstep.

Mrs D answered the door and thanked me for the two shopping bags that I had left on her doorstep. After a brief conversation we said our goodbyes and I headed off back home, leaving Mr & Mrs D to enjoy their cups of tea! ☕☕
