Last night's GoodGym crew broke the record for most people called Mark on one run. If anyone has any friends called Mark, then do encourage them to come along.

After a spritely 2.3k warm up run, we split into many teams to get jobs done all over the farm. Run reports are trickling in this morning:

Dhatri:
"If you ever wished you had lived out your childhood on a farm...then yesterday's GoodGym destination is the place for you. We arrived at Stepney City Farm to be supplied with shovels and gloves and then got stuck into doing some serious shovelling of the farm's huge compost pile. The rising steam of the compost being overturned, the undeniable earthy odours and lots of GoodGym chatter accompanied us as we worked. After 30 minutes of digging and slinging, we were pleased with the progress made. Now for the run back home..."

Pete:
"A new pathway was need to improve access around the farm, so a trio of plucky diggers got stuck into the unusually dry and stubborn soil. Sparks flew as spades clashed with rocks, but we got there in the end! All the while, a pair of particularly strong Good Gymers set about moving long wooden sleepers to their new home; they'll be feeling it the next day for sure."

Mark:
"Hannah and I helped to move some sleepers quite a distance down from one end of the farm to where they will be used for making beds. They were pretty heavy! We built up the resistance by going from carrying one to carrying two. Finally finishing the 1/2hr weightlifting by shifting 3 sleepers. Body aches this morning in a good way! And I know we did a lot of good for the farm last night too."

Gemma:
"Gill, Mark and I (with occassional guest appearances from the other Mark) got stuck into bagging up some of the compost that was ready for use. This stuff was - mercifully - less pungent than the partially fermented compost that the other team were digging through. We managed to fill 17 large plastic bags in about half an hour. Half way through we thought we had almost completed the job - before it was pointed out to us that the "mud" under our feet was in fact about 2 feet more compost. So there is still plenty more for Good Gymers to do next time!"
