Sheila joined taskowner and local councillor Karen, and our friend Sue from Vale Cemetery for a maintenance session at Spital Cemetery in Windsor. We started by taking down the remembrance poppies from the railings at the entrance and then walked around the site, picking up litter and looking for any headstones that were being engulfed with ivy or shrubs. It is all interesting to looka around - you see different things every time. There is an enormous array of different-shaped headstones and we came across a double grave of 2 people who died in the Herald of Free Enterprise disaster. We settled on working on two headstones. We uncovered a beautiful cross on one grave, and started work on another which is completely strangled by some quite mature ivy. This will take a lot more work - look out for the next session on 15th December
