9 GoodGymers made short work of shovelling 1200 litres (also called Hippo bag) of freshly delivered topsoil onto the veggie beds at the Maidenhead Community Allotment. Before 20 minutes was over, the 1200 litres of soil had been shovelled, wheel borrowed, bucketed away onto beds of all shapes and sizes. Georgeta, Sheila, Rachel and Gemma got a head start with the shovels filling the wheelbarrow and other containers. Gemma re-lived her gravel pile skills and expertly loosened the hippo bag so more could be shovelled out. And fast. So fast.
Diya, Amy, Jenni, Rhi and Jess carted and spread out the topsoil mindful of the spot of parsley and lavender plants already in the beds.

We welcomed Rachel to her first with-people deed. She did one at the Baby Bank earlier but didn't get to see any GoodGymers. There were plenty of us to welcome her today. Nice one, Rachel, on a double-deed day. Way to begin your GoodGym journey.

Jess worked behind the shack digging a hole to plant a tree and ended up on a near archaeological expedition. Well, it turned out to be a large piece of metal pipe but was very exciting in the beginning! Amy and Diya dug some more holes but no saplings were to be found. Diya mistook the supporting stake for a large tree sapling and we had a big laugh!

As the wind picked up, the runners put the tools back in the shed and greeted new arrivals Juli, Nicola and special guest Sophie and then we were off, to the next deed and to celebrate a milestone.
