Last night we did a excellent 5.91 run through the well-appointed, south facing Wanstead Flats taking in generous views of the George Mason lodge.Led by Walthamstowe runner Frank Merrigan we headed straight to our destination and spend 56 minutes attacking the scrubby undergrowth of the care homes neglected garden. We knocked down a few trees, cleared a load of ivy, got rid of lots of undergrowth and left the western flowerbed ready for planting. The way back was a real treat. Frank took us through the trails of Wanstead flats, surrouned by trees it felt like a real escape from the city.  We picked up our pace a bit too. After a series of sprints back through Leyton we arrived back at Cathall Leisure Centre tired and happy.
