Even though the run title might hint at possibly some dodgy things happening in Wanstead tonight, let me be clear from the start, there was nothing untowards going on, honestly!

With trainer James on a running adventure in the mountains in Spain, it was down to the taskforce team of Dharmesh & Peter (me!) to take charge of the task(s) at hand and guide the group on a run. A lovely mix of Goodgym runners gathered at base, welcoming new member John & Camden tourist Rachel ('dragged over' by Rob?) as well as the usual suspects Linda, Vicki, Kathryn, tall James, Jay, Momo, Sharon, Sarah-Jane & Jennifer.

For a change we had the luxury of two tasks - a late call for a helping hand from the Wanstead Community Gardeners. While I was accompanied by the 3 J's of Jennifer, John & Jay to meet Anne at Snaresbrook station to help move some planters around, Dharmesh led the rest of the squad into battle #2 in the war against the ivy, this time more focusing on the large carpet of ivy strangling anything in site. It turned out that treating it as a carpet as well and rolling it up was actually a quite effective way to gather the ivy and drag it off to the bin. Just as the potty squad returned back to base, the battle hardened ivy destroyers finished filling the huge bin and started to pack up the tools. A quick clear-up and off we went on a little jog through the lovely Wanstead Park, enjoying the huge number of bees on a large lavender plant and discovering a heron patiently waiting in the murky water for a meal to come past, with Dharmesh making sure nobody got lost at the back.

A few post-run stretches back at base were followed by some lovely home-baked little cakes from Sharon, in celebration of her upcoming 25th birthday - give her a cheer!

Next week we will be celebrating our 3rd anniversary! So come and join us for another adventure or just for a drink afterwards, we'll be looking to head to The Manor House down the road - group run link should be in the column on the right :-D
