Another visit to Slough Museum to help sort through historical items.

Sara and I were tasked to sort through boxes of items and index what was in each box.

The unit was cold today but the lovely blue gloves helped keep our hands warm (and the historical items safe from getting damaged).

In total we indexed 6 boxes. Sara was whizzing through her boxes, whilst it took me nearly one hour just to go through one box. If I went any slower I would of been going back wards. But actually I was looking through each item and this is what we found:-

  • A cheque for £95k dated in 1912 ( worth £10m now!).... that inflation I like!
  • Thanksgiving commemoration book dated 1945
  • Letter from then PM Stanley Baldwin to the Specials dated 1926
  • Ration book from WW2
  • Slough Urban District Council year book dated 1937-38
  • Gifted tobacco tins dated 1914

what a collection! Well worth the couple of hours spent sifting through these.
