On an unexpectedly balmy November Sunday evening, 6 Goodgymers helped out at a relatively new initiative from Marston Community Gardening (MCG) in Northway. With some crafts, cake and hot drinks on offer, there was a push to plant bulbs and encourage more community gardening in the local area outside of Old Marston.

Many tasks were on offer, with the main task being to clear the currently overgrown raised beds to make way for new top soil, and to spruce up the area with the planting of crocuses and daffodils. We got to work, discussing the unseasonably warm weather and the latest TV offerings while weeding and sorting out pesky bindweed roots from the soil to be dispersed around the raised beds.

While other MCG members were using circular saws to prepare the raised bed boarders, we managed to efficiently sort through the soil and leave the area looking ship shape, before enjoying some homemade carrot cake and a cup of tea in the cafe area.
