FIVE GG Yorkies missioned it to the hidden land of Fenby Field to help clear brambles and plant trees.

BANF are a great local organisation and invited us along to help with the tough stuff on their work day. Our job was to clear a huge area that was rampant with bramble, and plant five apple trees to make an orchard.

The rule is, you need five trees to be able to call it an orchard. So that's how many we shall plant - BANF member

It was dangerous work as meandering trails of bramble were being strewn about. We all had to be extra careful not to trip each other up or even worse, take each other's eyes out.

In amongst clearing all the bramble we filled up a trug with litter too, and found one amazing crisp packet that every snail in the field had been drawn too. I wanted to release the snails into the wild but we had to remove them from the area entirely otherwise they would have eaten all of our lovely new plants.

Snails are bad, bad bad - Another BANF member

We dug holes, planted trees and shifted all the brambles into an enormous pile. Then we were given posh snacks of sparkling water and golden crunch biscuits.

We will only bring out the best for you lovely volunteers - Barbara, BANF secretary

After this, the boys went to do man stuff; cutting down trees and moving big logs etc. The rest of us cleared another patch of brambles and dug it over to create a new flower bed.

Mission complete!
