With the hot weather this week attracting lots of people to the marshes & to Hackney Beach (yes, Hackney has a 'beach'!) it seemed a good idea to pop down early on Saturday morning to make sure the course was clear for Hackney Marshes Parkrun. The downturn in sunny weather on Friday meant that the rubbish along the course seemed to be kept under control, which was a relieve under the circumstances - pouring rain! So the main focus were the tree branches just across the little bridge, previously shoulder height but now under the extra weight of the rain water down to chest height. Having brought small but powerful hand tools, several branches of varying thickness quickly gave up resisting and now form a mini wildlife hedge.

Having some time left before Parkrun kicked off and with shoes & shorts already soaked through anyway, a little tidy-up around the starting area seemed the right thing to do, a surprising amount of rubbish half hidden in the undergrowth. Although a (stolen?) bicycle might not fall under the category 'rubbish', I guess... it is now in 'lost items' at the Marshes Centre, in case anyone recognises it.

Work done, time for running.... or in my case, watching & supporting other people run, together with Goodgym tourist and all-round great character Mridula, who was at the start of an impressive & busy weekend full of Goodgym missions.

Part one all done and with coffee/tea in hand, Eva & myself made our way across the car park to join the Tree Musketeers at their nursery Open Day... rumors have it the Mayor might attend.. keep an eye out for the run report!

So topical! Sally messaged only 2 hours ago to ask where our closest beach might be! 😂
