After volunteering at Hilly Fields Parkrun, Steve pootled around the corner to our regular monthly mission helping gardener Sue at Marsha Phoenix Trust, which is an amazing local charity offering shelter and support to young women.

A big part of creating a restful environment for everyone is their lovely garden, which has been thriving in the sunny spring. Thriving also means having to keep on top of things, and Steve and Sue had their work cut out gathering palm fronds for the compost, mowing the lawn and transplanting (geddit?) a small palm tree that had outgrown its pot. Despite our best efforts, the pot had to be broken to free the palm, which had created a dense ball of roots right up to the sides. Local Beautiful Photogenic Grey Cat came to say hello and inspect the demolition work. With compost bins full, lawn tidied and Sue putting the finishing touches to the re-housed palm, it was time to say good bye until next time.

As well as our regular missions here, please sign up for a group run that will be taking place on Monday 19th June!
