The month of May just came out of nowhere and clandestinely commenced yesterday, I'm sure that snuck up on us, this year is flickering past. Dan and Hils both reached terrific new milestones, 50 and 100 respectively. Something to cheer right there, stalwarts writing themselves into then GGN history books (a lengthy scroll kept in my sock drawer). Our random question was by Miss 100 herself, "what is one of the best decisions you ever made?" Brilliant question, illiciting a brief yet thoughtful answer. From couch to 5k, joining a running club, doing some more regular miles, joining goodgym. Evidence that exercise combined with a social element is innately good for us humans. We also had: getting a kitten, doing Camp America, moving to London and travelling. Showing a nice range amongst our clan.

Arriving at the school to already set up work areas was pleasant. Benches ready to sand and prime. Everyone got straight to it.Just a quick wipe down with the sand paper, then a brush over with the primer. Completed easily by 8pm. A small furore then erupted about binning the rollers, only used once and it was an unquestionable waste, they'll head straight to landfill. We can bring this up before our next painting task, then take time to clean them out, and ensure a more sustainable ending. Either way, great job over there.

Upon return to base, a stretch, debrief and a wee chinwag was had. Then a bonanza of delectable home-made baked treats. Dan's banana cake, with gooey dark chocolate centre, and a walnut base was a fantastic mix of flavours and bite. Some say that Ruth made this cake, slaved over it while Dan took credit, I call slander here, I saw the way you presented your dessert to us, pride in the eyes, fire in the heart. Hilary, known to bake some exquisite sweet treats didn't let us down either, with a rich deep chocolate cake, an almost velvety consistency. You guys are baking gods, i'm actually inspired, more of a cook normally, but I think I'm going to try my hand at the more exact science.

Quick shout out to Dan on his 50th good deed, he characterises energy, exuberance and positivity and when he gets a pick axe in his hand there's literally no stopping him. Hilary has shot to 100 deeds in an incredibly short time, embracing missions with aplomb and leading the GGN charge there.A calm problem-solver whose running improvement has been a joy to see. Here's to the two of them!

Next week we are at the wonderful Playground, sign up here to partake in the fun.

Nice one team, till next week
