SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Alex Dray (he / him)
5 Goodgymers met on a mild, St Patrick's Day Wednesday morning to help Task-owner & pond mastermind Alex from Stepney City Farm with their new pond.
The creation of the pond has been a pretty decent and exceptionally impressive project over the last few months, that Goodgym have been asked to assist with over the next few weeks.
With the main structure already in place, today we were split into a few groups to move pebbles from the bags they were delivered in to create small pebble beaches, we helped fill in the trenches that will help with water collection and keep the pond naturally full for the wildlife to safely move in when its completed. We then cut some of the fresh turf surrounding the pond to save the healthy grass, ready to replace once the final layering of the plastic sheeting designed to catch rainwater into the pond is in place.
I think all 5 of us would agree we were all very relieved to spend 2 hours outside this morning, I really enjoyed the conversations and had a lot of fun this morning, and most importantly we also got a lot done too.
There are two more tasks on Saturday ahead (keep an eye out for spaces!?), it will be interesting to see the transformation from the beginning of today to next week...

Amazing pun, Alex! Thanks for making me smile on a grey Wednesday. And well done for leading this, and getting this activity series off to such a great start.
