Today being May Day / International Labour Day, what better way to kick it off than labouring in St Lawrence Park with that dynamic duo from Urban Green (shout out to Mike and Maddie & their tea “n” biscuits).

Today’s Good Gym labours were creating / double digging a bed for wild flowers (Charlotte and Liz) and serious edging again around the ball court - how do these things grow back so quickly – (Aimee and Andrew.) As you can see from the photos, both tasks were Herculean but had a nice sense of “good job done” - especially as we all got to scatter the wild flowers at the end.

Congratulations to Aimee who achieved her 200th GG Mission today – fabulous work – and celebrated with a gift of 2 cakes from Andrew – (and showed such restraint at only eating one of them!)

We also enjoyed a nice chat to a passing dog walker who, despite saying we were wasting our time, wished us well. In fact, the conversation made us even more determined to make the area look good in the hope of proving him wrong. After, all as the ancient Greek playwright, Sophocles once said “Without labour nothing prospers.”

…What with Hercules and Sophocles, I’m obviously channelling the Ancients today – not sure what that means but don’t tell me please! 😊
