I went along to Birmingham Central Foodbank to help with sorting donations, whilst others focused on handing food parcels out.

It was a really good shift for organising donated items and we managed to sub-sort various items, such as: crisps, chocolate bars and lots of noodles / hot snacks, into monthly or three-monthly boxes according to their use-by dates. This will help to ensure that we are giving out food which needs to be used up first.

It was also great to see the linking up of different organisations / groups and I helped to sort and load some donations of food and drink items, with short use-by dates, for a delivery to another Church operating a food bank.

Overall, it was a really enjoyable shift and we managed to get lots of sorting done ahead of the next shift.
