We set out with the under-estimated target of a four kilometre run and some light weeding action.  We sped along the Greenway towards Beckton missing our turning and only being put back on track by knowledgable local Julianne. We had to then take another major detour around the blithering A13 which stops you from getting into Beckton park from the Greenway. Two different allotments had requested our help and we set up this run specially to tackle them.  The first of them had an extremely overgrown patch: weeds growing well over our heads.  We thought we'd try to handle a small section of it, we had arrived about half an hour late and so didn't want to give ourselves too large a target. As soon as we started work the weeds started falling away rapidy, the combo of spades, rakes and hoes overpowered the towering jungle of unwanted folliage.  Within our alloted 25 mins we'd clearned a 20ft patch of ground.  Morris used an innovative rolling technique to bundle the slain weeds into a pile and Karl ensured quality ground clearance with his rake.We sped out of the gates of the allotment and headed West for 500m to our next target.  The allotment was run by occupational therapists.  Claire let us in and gave us some much-appreciated water.  We were then shown to a patch of scrubby ground that needed thorough weeding to get it ready for planting.  Spades and forks were flying around once more and we set ourselves a tight 20min target to get the patch clear.  Morris got dirty shoes, Misha saw a snail, Karl put stuff in bags, Julianne did things with forks and Mark nipped around at the end making a nice neat line along the edge. After completing work on our patch, we headed back North over the A13 and onto the Greenway. As if we hadn't done enough work we did a couple of sprints and arrived back at the Memorial Park panting. This was one of our toughtest runs and we completed the work in record time.  Also, congratulations to Julianne for completing her longest run (it was 10.5k in total) and to Misha for keepng up with the group on her first GoodGym run and her first run in six months.  Really looking forward to the next one.
