Eight runners ran 4.5km to help Menphys
Adaptability was the "key" for GoodGym Leicester tonight as we failed to get into the container at Perfectly Edible UK that contained the tools required for the task we had planned tonight! Despite the best efforts of most of the group we couldn't get the padlock open and thus had to resort to an alternative task. Luckily we had one up our sleeve. We happened to be in just the right spot to continue delivering leaflets for Menphys to promote the Christmas light switch on at their shop just 100 yards from our original task.
We split into two groups, Dave, Mel, Jimmy and Jen heading in one direction and Ashley, Nick, Sharon and Huw heading the other way planning to meet back at the car at 7pm! We managed to get plenty of additional leaflets out to local residents keeping warm by jogging door to door where possible. With Huw's group getting a little carried away and not returning until 7.07pm we had to forego the planned fitness activity at Fosse Rec and made do with a looped run back through Rally Park to ensure we returned to base on time.
Despite the key catastrope we still managed to get fit and do good, helping out a wonderful local charity in the process. Bravo to all and thanks for your adaptability and resourcefulness in cracking on with the change in plans without complaint! We'll get a return to finish the original task booking in ASAP.
Details of the remaining tasks for this decade are on the website with some cracking runs on the agenda, get yourself signed up!
Happy running, HD
