Shouts out to Ryan, Tina and Cleriosan

On arrival to GGH HQ, I was greeted by the super efficient Sarah. As the rest of the gang arrived we welcomed a few newcomers. Shouts out to Ryan, Tina and Cleriosan. Great to have you guys join us! After the briefing and warm up we headed over to Chestnuts Park where we’d be spreading some mulch, watering some new flowerbeds and the willow structures along with shifting then watering in some grass turf patches that had been cut from the new flowerbeds. These pieces of turf were placed over sections of a grass mound that had bald patches.

the little worm cemetery

While en route to the park we seemed to be getting lots of interest from the public, asking what we were up to and how they could get involved. Once we’d all arrived at the park and met the little ray of light Sara, she explained what needed doing then we split up and got stuck into the tasks at hand. Lots of banter and laughs ensued as everybody worked away. The weather was great and so was the company. We managed to get all of the little jobs done by 8pm, which was the cut off time to get the hosepipe back into the community centre before they locked up. Thanks to Angie for ensuring we would be ok to get the hosepipe back into the centre. We also managed to shift all of the turf pieces needed to cover the patches without having to dismantle the little worm cemetery that had been made by the local kids.

fitness session

With this done we indulged in a round of high fives, but not before getting our silly faceoff comp pics (even got a rare one from me). We then said or goodbyes and headed toward the war memorial on Phillip Lane for the fitness session, which saw people pair up and do laps around the memorial while pairs left inside the memorial did baby crawls, reverse dips and plyometric jumps. This went down well and all seemed to get a good little workout. We then set off in the direction of HQ, but here we picked up the pace and as people got to the home strait the sprint finish was on. That done we warmed down and some of the gang went for pizza from the Loven Crew down at Styx.

Shouts out to Sarah for the pun!!
