Yesterday’s heavy rain was a perfect precursor to gardening work on the sensory flower beds in Alexandra recreation ground… First the weeds came out of the soft soil super easily… then it was satisfying to spread a thick layer of bark chip around the newly planted young shrubs, knowing this mulch would hold moisture in the ground to aid growth over periods of drier weather ahead. Good fun as always being with the Friends of the Park group and noticing seasonal changes in the natural environment, this time including violets and wild mushrooms emerging through the grass.
