Mudchute Compost Shift

We ran a quick 4.4k last night to Mudchute Farm from Reebok Gym.  We were lucky to have two locals who knew the area like the backs of their hands,  Alfie the super-fit trainer from Reebok and Carole the Race Director of the excellent Mile End Park Run. We headed south through the tall buildings and bankers and through the Asda carpark to the entrance of the Farm.We were met by Cressida who quickly supplied us with wheelbarrows and spades and took us to one of the biggest compost heaps GoodGym has ever dealt with. The plan was to fill a whole pig pen with new layer of top soil, one of the Gloucester Old Spots had made some big old trotter holes in the dry earth in his pen and was worried he was going to break  his leg.  It needed about 50 barrows of compost and  we set ourselves 45 mins to get it done. The work was consistently hard, whether running the barrows back and forth or filling them with a shovel or raking them out there was plenty to engage the core and upper body muscles.  We ended up filling the last 10 barrows in 5 mins which increased the intensity and our heart rates.Cressida and Nick from the farm farm seemed pleased with us and asked us to come back so we're going to look into doing a more regular run to the farm.  Thanks to everyone who cam and worked so hard.On the way back we ran over a few bridges and were back at Reebok on time for 8pm.Photos by Cressida
