23 Runners ran between 7k to help at a nature reserve in Gospel Oak

Here's a report from Pritesh;

Tonight’s proceeding’s started slightly differently as the group spent a lot of time spraying themselves down with mosquito repellent! Having learnt from the first visit to the nature reserve Shaun was prepared this time and brought some mozzy spray - with everyone covered up and half the group choking on and trying to escape the anti-moz mist (gawd it burns!) we set off ready to tackle whatever the Mortimer Nature Reserve could throw at us!

As usual we started off with our street theatre-esque warm ups including some horse galloping impressions (seen to be believed) to get our quads and hamstrings up to the run ahead. After that, all ready to go, we set off on our 4k run up to Gospel Oak.

Here's a paragraph from Sarah about the task

At the nature reserve there were three tasks awaiting us. One group raked and collected stones, while a second group weeded the area for the stones to be placed in a circle to mark out an area in preparation for a new cob oven. The final group collected a pile of logs and arranged them against a fence to give them a good airing. Once dry they will be used as borders for the pathways. There was even time for some good old wheelbarrow and compost action. Before we left we stood in a circle of trust and admired our work/ assessed the effectiveness of bug spray.

and back to Pritesh;

After all getting together for one final push to clear and gather a last “tonne” of stones, and, for some of the brave, redirecting our audience of worms into more suitable parts of the park we were all done at the nature reserve and made our way out. We said our thanks to Jeanne, did a quick headcount and we were ready for the run back to Somers Town.

On the way back we split into two groups, Shaun taking a shorter route back the way we had come and Axel leading a few of us down the canal for a harder run. Those of us on the longer run were treated to some green carpet action down at the steps to Granary Square, they’ve been carpeted in fake grass! After a quick minute to catch our breath we made our way back to Somers Town, joined the rest for a quick stretch and all left (with not too many bites) after another great GG Camden session!
