Yesterday 10 of us gathered in the lobby of Solutions Health Club chatting away about our recent days and adventures awaiting for that magic moment where I would ask everyone to gather around for our famous GoodGym introduction. Our mission which was all ready accepted and setup in late May was to run to East Croydon Community Organisation (ECCO) to help clear the raised beds along the boulevard down from East Croydon train station.

Ellie, returning from injury led jog/walk group while 9 of us decided to take the scenic 1 mile route via Cherry Orchard, thank you Ros for volunteering to be our back marker on the night.

Following our warm with back marker in place we set off on our run, down Landsdowne Road, as there wasn't a lot of us running the group stayed together all the way to ECCO. When we arrived Ellie, Emma and Erin were there and had already began working. Tony who was filling in for Jerry greeted us and informed us of what the task was and the area we would be covering.

There was a lot of weeding, trimming and litter picking to be done, the 10 of us were accompanied by 2 volunteers from ECCO. Mid way through the session we were joined by the bubbly Opal, who is one of Croydon's street champions she had recently moved to the area having been involved with work in her previous community and was looking to get stuck with us.

The team did a marvellous job clearing the raised beds in total there were 33 bags of rubbish all neatly tied up and packed away in a corner for the council to collect.

This week we discovered a mini beast that we were unable to name are there any budding entomologist out there who is able to name that mini beast?

Before long it was time for us to go, but not without a little chat whit Tony, who informed us that he had been meaning to join us on our Park Hill visits but due to family commitments and last minute child care for his grand children (10) he was unable to. Although we did no planting this week we learned how fruitful Tony's youngest son was, he's father to 8 children.

We bid our farewell and took the shorter route back to Solution where we stopped off in the car park of Southern house for our fitness session. A few sprints, wall sits and planks with some welcomed stretches at the end.

Next week we will beheading to Addiscombe Railway Garden, for those of you who has never been, I advise you to double up on your bug spay. Sign up here

Did you agree to do this? Please let Sarah, know I have already logged 6.2 miles, as mentioned I will be making a donation instead of seeking sponsorships there is 28 days left in July more than enough time for us to get it done, come on team!
