Making a clean sweep
10 runners ran to help the Crisis at Christmas Warehouse in Hackney.
- Tuesday, 3rd of November 2020

As we head into another lockdown, Crisis at Christmas' vital work continues as they prepare for the festive season, when they'll be providing food, seasonal treats and emotional and wellbeing support for thousands of homeless people.
Before they can do that, they need to prepare their vast warehouse in Poplar, which is where GoodGym come in. Three East London areas are getting together to help out twice a week, with the addition tonight of runners from Haringey, Waltham Forest and Camden.
We joined task owner Richard in cleaning the medical area, as well as the room which will become the vital call centre. First we cleared various items of rubbish, then swept and washed the carpets and tiles. Henry The Hoover joined us, fresh from his box, as we tackled detrius and grime left by previous users, making a tremendous difference. If only we were this diligent in our own homes.
There is much still to be done. Friday's task is currently full, but we'll be continuing this vital work twice-weekly despite the restrictions, so keep looking out for dates.
