Gathering speed for Super Saturday, 13 of us came along to help old favourite GoodGym task to the usual warm welcome at Clitterhouse Farm.

Some had come from the SunnyHill ParkRun Community Mission that kicked-off Super Saturday for Barnet, and others from some of the other hilly ParkRuns that North London has to offer. On our to-do list at the farm today included:

  • Dismantling pallets for the timber, including the exacting extraction of all the nails. The timber is destined to be used to build planters.

  • Administering a pressure-washer to some dirty plastic seating ahead of an outdoor movie night coming-up soon.

  • Destroying blocks of dried beer ‘leaves’ (hops maybe?) for the compost heap. A job for the strong of limb and strong of stomach, as they smelled like sick, eek.

  • And of course the backbone of any garden-type GG task, weeding out the undesirables, and nurturing the favoured flora with water and compost.

Thanks to Jody and Liz for some great photos, and to Rupesh for the title – blowing the lid on a common misconception about loofas. Apparently, unlike their bath time brethren the ‘sponge,’ loofas are land-based and grow upwards and alongwards, like overhead marrows (picture above)

Hi Amy, thanks for you message. I put you in the register the first time, and again just now, but it won't have it. Will as the webmaster to do it as that usually works. For your next Community Mission you can register yourself (and do the report if you fancy) but you need to have signed-up first. See you again, D
