On a frigid Tuesday evening, I stepped in as a late substitute for GoodGym Newcastle’s little picking relay. I had spotted litter scattered all over the entrance to Hetton Lyons Country Park (hence the pun) yesterday and jumped at the chance to pick it all up.
I managed to collect at least 20 beer and soft drink cans, the packaging for a 12-pack of beer and numerous other miscellaneous wrappers and packaging. A satisfying ten minutes of work despite the snow and ice!
