Thanks Judy for the report title.

This evening, Judy, Maura and Jo paid our first visit to Baby Basics in Portsmouth where we had been asked to help to clean a set of high chairs and tables from IKEA that had been donated to them. Di from Baby Basics took us out into the courtyard and we were soon armed with buckets of water, soap and cloths to get going. We had about 3 high chairs, then about 9 smaller chairs plus 8 tables that needed to be dismantled and cleaned. Maura cleaned the taller high chairs and did a great job at getting rid of the sticky labels and residue that were on them, before cleaning them thoroughly. Judy donned her marigolds and got cracking on the cleaning of the high chair tables, whist Jo started dismantling the legs from the chairs and tables so that they could be cleaned and bundled together making these items easier to store. Once the items were dismantled we all started cleaning them and using the hose pipe on its 'jet' setting came in very handy as it removed stubborn stains, but also gave us a cooling shower at the same time which was a welcome relief to the warm evening. We also had a few pipe malfunctions but thankfully we didn’t get too wet. Di joined us in the courtyard and tackled the cleaning the legs and then bundling them together. We were offered an array of drinks to keep us hydrated and also some lovely chocolate truffles came around which had to be sampled and were amazing.

We stayed a little over our time there as we were determined to finish cleaning all of the items which Judy then rinsed and were left to dry in the warm evening sun. Hopefully Di will find us some more great tasks to do and we can visit again soon.
