SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Redbridge runner
Once again we were very lucky with the weather - no rain and the sunshine came out by the end!
This was Russell's first ever GoodGym session!!! Welcome and well done!
Emma had a last minute sign up to pleasantly surprise us with her first visit to Redbridge community mission! Welcome!!!
Arrival Linda, John and Russell were first to arrive with Julia coming a few minutes late, with Ramon and Emma coming shortly after. A huge well done to everyone for selecting Active Travel to get to the community mission: Raymond ran and the rest cycled! Great mid-day workout for all:)
Task Francis, St Peter in the Forest community engagement, met us with some serious tools, including much needed wheelbarrow and rakes - we made a good use of them to clear a fairly big area on the side that we hadn't touched before. Linda focused on the corner by the tree, thoroughly de-weeding it. John and Russell attacked some serious bramble overgrowth and in the process revealing gravestones that were quite hidden, Russell then moved a lot of brambles to the fence for a new 'wild corner' - let's hope hedgehogs will discover it and make its home! Raymond and Emma cleared a huge area, creating a pile of bramble cuttings that were then needed to be moved to find a pair of secateurs that Raymond put away well before the work started:)
After task chat It's always great to see everyone so some folks stayed back to chat about quite a few things - bike riding, gendered toys, gender equality, safety, gardening and much more - join us next time to find out;)
