Mrs G, according to her granddaughter, was a very active person. She didn't like to sit still and used to drive to do her own groceries. Unfortunately, Mrs G injured her leg and felt wobbly on her feet. Simple tasks like shopping became off-limits. While I wish this story was about Mrs G's quick recovery, we are not so far in the future yet. This chapter of her healing journey is about GoodGym.

It was Mrs G's first contact with the extraordinary charity of people who do good and get fit at the same time - and have fun too! She booked not one but two GoodGymers to do her groceries on Wednesday night! It was unusual for volunteers to find a shopping task for two people. Would it be a trip to seven different shops? An order of twenty 5-litre bottles of still water? Sevan wanted a mission on Wednesday, and so did Kash. They didn't have to compete for the task and ended up teaming up to help Mrs G. Phew!

Mrs G had a list on her phone that she had already sent to Mission Control and wanted to forward to Sevan and Kash too. The GoodGym code didn't allow that, so Kash resorted to taking photos of the list while Sevan diligently noted the priority items.

The GoodGymers started their journey at the Haven Green Tesco, where they were unsuccessful, looking for the Tesco's apple and blackcurrant squash. While Tesco in the Ealing Broadway shopping centre was closed for renovation, the next obvious choice was Morrisons. That supermarket had an abundance of stock. The GoodGymers split to search for the different items from the list, taking advantage of their strengths (like Sevan's knowledge of biscuits). They found everything apart from the buttery cholesterol-lowering spread which was on offer and already sold out. The last stop of the shopping trip was Sainsbury's where our volunteers picked up a tub of Flora spread.

Mrs G and her granddaughter, who visited her that day, were grateful for help and curious about scheduling more GoodGym shopping tasks until Mrs G's leg healed. Hopefully, more missions for Mrs G are coming soon!
