Tonight was a new task location!

We met at The Rossmore Leisure Centre which was buzzing with kids and swim lessons and sports classes.

Maria, Christine and Esther all headed off down main roads towards the school. This time of year is so difficult for group running as you choose between main roads that are noisy but well lit, and darker side roads that are more quiet but less certainty on lighting.

As female runners, we are often more conscious of the darkness too, feeling that bit more vulnerable. But we had High Vis on and plenty of street lights as we drifted past smells of cannabis (!), frequently eased up to cross the side roads and passed a few dark figures.

We arrived at Langside School to meet a well wrapped Becky who had walked down and is currently injured - boo! But she has joined us - yeah!

We found our cupboard of equipment and wondered around the sensory garden amongst leaves and bushes. The trees clearly love to drop on all the garden and this time of year, it's a constant battle with leaves, moss, bushes overgrown and more leaves!

Choosing to focus mainly on clearing some of the path in the sensory garden, cutting back some of the bushes and making a start on the beds. There are so many leaves, it's likely any will turn to a compost over winter so on advise of those that know a little more (Christine and Becky!) we didn't remove many leaves from the beds themselves.

We headed back the same roads, past the smells of weed, bright lights of cars and sounds of lorries passing.

We are safe in the knowledge tonight we had an enjoyable run, we had a little natter and we made a difference to the school garden. We can be happy with that for a evenings work! We return again in a few weeks!
