Report written by Peter Van Tongeren
Part of our regular tasks was helping to look after our 'home', the Wanstead Community House, by doing some jobs around the place. Now the trees are showing the signs of the changing weather, leaves starting to drop was just the reason to pop back to WCH and tidy up the car park by sweeping up all the leaves & bits - clear tarmac is a lot neater and safer than wet slippery leaves!
So on a sunny Sunday morning some of the Redbridge crew assembled, joined by a few of our Newham friends who ran miles to get there! Brooms & grabbers were put to good use, spreading out around the place, with Sharon casually multi-tasking by swinging her litter-picker about while sweeping up. Linda even brought in her own specific tools to clean out the drain next to the building. It was nice to see John finding the energy to join in as well, after a busy morning working already.
Some of the conversations did lead to interesting discoveries, like the admittance of one there that he/she actually doesn't often read the reports... Let's see if today is any different ;-)
Job done (till the wind blows down some more leaves), the team made their way down to the lovely Wanstead Park, where the little Cafe was the perfect stop for refreshments, from a missed breakfast of bacon & egg (sandwich) to a nice cup of tea, rewards well earned.
Thanks to Sharon, Graham & Aaron for joining us!
P.S... James pointed out the gutters around the hall would be getting clogged up as well, maybe something for another day?

Really enjoyed this task, meeting our Newham compatriots even the running on this beautiful morning in Wanstead....and the report is not too shabby.
