The best laid plans! Unfortunately our task at Cultivate was cancelled last minute yesterday afternoon after the organiser came down with something, so it was a mad scramble to find a replacement. Luckily Active 360 was happy to lend us their litter pickers, so we decided to spend the evening doing a rubbish pick down at Kew bridge. Not exactly what we had planned but always a very productive and helpful thing to do!

During a warm up at the Town Hall where we cheered Beth for knocking an epic 7 minutes off her PB at the Wigan half, and after challenging ourselves to name the bridges that cross the Thames, we set off for one of them - Kew Bridge!

Meeting a few other GGers there, we found the litter pickers that had been left for us and got started. Usually we find some pretty interesting rubbish in the area, but tonight the tide was high so the best we could do was bottle tops, cigarette butts, drinks bottles and, unfortunately, a large rodent who thankfully scuttled away.

Litter pick done, we moved on to the fitness part of the evening, and it is no underestimation to say this one was a challenge and a half! Starting with ten narrow squats, ten jumping squats, and then ten sumo squats, we reduced the reps incrementally along with the recovery period. The result was - thanks to the mathematicians in the group - a total of 165 squats, and some glutes and quads of pure steel.

All that was left was a run back along the river and some stretches. Great work everyone! Next week we're back at Chiswick allotments, you can sign up here.
