1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Camden.
- Tuesday, 31st of March 2020
A few days back, I signed up to a mission to help Mr F get a bit of shopping done. Yesterday, I saw the confirmation come in, with a twist.
Somewhere between the referral being made, and the crack team of GoodGym coordinators seeing to it, Mr F's shopping needs had been sorted. In many such cases, I might be asked to stand down, but not today!
The team who have been supporting Mr F were conscious that the day we'd lined up for the GoodGym support was Mr F's birthday. With it being a number over 90, and Mr F having made a lovely impression on the hospital team, we agreed to pivot the task and help Mr F celebrate his day.
I grabbed a card and signed it on behalf of the team who made the request, and after a lot of deliberation about which cake to go for (a modest but delicious looking lemon drizzle), popped them over to him. It was a lovely reminder that all the support with food deliveries, etc, isn't just about nutritional sustenance, but about emotional and social sustenance too.
A cracking task, a brief meeting with a lovely man, and a nice blast of fresh air!
