Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Angela Man
Today, I was involved in the "Norwich Research Park takeover" of Colney Lane parkrun which takes place 3 miles on the outskirts of the city. All volunteer roles were being taken over by staff and students connected to the NRP which consist of several research institutes, UEA and NNUH.
I was timekeeper again, manning up and putting away my "timekeeper anxiety" to take on the task wibble
Lots of my fellow running friends were pacers today. After doing a 26 minute pacer recce of the course with fellow NRP-er, Hannah on Thursday lunchtime, where we failed horribly and did the route in 25:00, I give them all kudos - it's a really hard job to be strict and keep to pace.
The finish line atmosphere was awesome and noisy, led by Run Director, Thom and his shouts of encouragement with "finish strong", "who wants it more" and other similar type of mantras - you'd never know he was ex-forces! All runners/walkers/canine participants came through safely today and timekeeping was kept perfectly, hooray!
It was GoodGym-tastic today too - I timed and noticed Pete cross the line, along with a hello to Janice and Kevin setting off on their bikes post-run as I walked back to work to change into my run home kit and then a surprise hello to Jonathan, as I ran through the city on my commute home at mile 5. He'd just been to Norwich parkrun.
Everyone loves a parkrun Saturday, whether volunteering or running! :0)
