Three GG Yorkies helped Edible York build a new orchard.

Edible York wants to make York a better place to live by running edible gardening activities and horticultural initiatives. At Alex Lyons Sheltered Housing, they wanted to build a low-maintenance orchard in the community garden for the residents to enjoy.

Jobs involved planting trees, lining the ground and spreading vast quantities of bark chip. Obviously we love spreading bark at GoodGym York so we grabbed the shovels and the wheelbarrows and got stuck in.

You're the fastest and neatest bark shovellers I've ever seen! - Bill, Edible York

Two whole, massive areas were covered with bark, a great achievement.

These girls haven't stopped once, what hard workers! - One of the residents, who'll be looking after the orchard

Of course we did stop when Bill brought out his homemade lemon drizzle cake, a very welcome treat.
